Creamy and luxe, you won’t look back at a packet French onion again. My simple, six ingredient recipe for the perfect dip to take to drinks with friends or the couch this weekend.
Caramelised Shallot Dip
Ingredients
- 75g unsalted butter
- 7 shallots, finely diced
- 125g cream cheese
- 200g light sour cream
- Sea salt
- ¾ tbsp fresh lemon juice
Serving ideas:
- Lavosh
- Celery
- Radish
- Focaccia/sourdough/Turkish bread
- Carrot
- Cucumber
- Sugar snap peas
Method
- Melt butter in a medium sized pan over low heat.
- Add shallots and season with salt.
- Slowly sauté, stirring often (I set a timer on repeat for every 3 minutes), until golden brown (approx. 20-25 minutes). Allow to cool slightly.
- In a bowl using a whisk (or stand mixer with the paddle attachment), combine cream cheese, sour cream, a pinch of sea salt and lemon juice. Whisk/beat until smooth.
- Add shallots and stir to combine. Taste and season.
- Serve on a platter with your favourite dipping instruments .
